The event: CHRISTMAS PARTY & A CHRISTMAS DECORATION with Jo Manser
Where: Vestry Hall, Marden
When: Tuesday 11th December 2018 at 7.30pm
Jo Manser used to be a member of the committee of the Marden Horticultural Society. A passionate gardener, Jo moved to Claygate to develop a brand new garden, where she works as a horticultural therapist.
Jo last visited us in February 2016 when she gave us a fascinating talk about produce from the garden and then showed us how to make a willow heart for Valentine’s Day. Tonight we will be making a Christmas decoration with Jo, as well as having an opportunity to socialise with each other.
Drinks and nibbles. Please bring a 4in/10cm terracotta pot
Competition: Seasonal table decoration
£10 voucher to the winner
Our December meeting was a friendly & fun social evening, with artisan stalls selling all sorts of gifts and produce; mulled wine, mince pies and other treats. We also had a demonstration on how to make a Christmas candle decoration and a talk by Jo Manser, who runs ‘Produce from the Garden’. Jo talked about her very artistic & productive garden where she grows a wide variety of interesting plants. She also gave us ideas about decorating the inside of the house using a minimal number of blooms together with any foliage to hand in our gardens. One of her favourite flowers is the Dahlia, which she cultivates in her cutting garden in all colours, shapes and sizes. Most members managed to put together a reasonable looking candle decoration with a dark red candle surrounded by holly, ivy berries and other seasonal foliage and we all enjoyed ourselves.
The competition for a Seasonal Table Decoration was won by Zubeida Roberts.
